Struggling to beat Guardian of the Rift? Feel like victory depends entirely on luck—especially on pulling those elusive Legendary Heroes? You're not alone. The first-clear probability is notoriously low, but this guide will break down the core strategies to maximize your chances and turn the odds in your favor.
Guardian of the Rift is a limited-time event reintroduced with the 5th Anniversary update. As described in the official event overview, you’ll face multiple waves of enemies during this event, and you must summon cookie defenders and manage your team to defeat them. The gameplay includes special summoning and attacking mechanics that make it different from normal battles. Additionally, the event offers three difficulty modes: Normal, Hard, and Infinity. Points are earned after each wave of enemies is eliminated, with corresponding rewards granted upon completing different rounds. Let's now delve into the gameplay mechanics and explore its core features!

Units are the primary cookies you summon and deploy in Guardian of the Rift. You can review all units available for the current season by clicking the Collection button in the lobby.
1.Unit Rarities
Units are categorized by four rarities:
Units with higher rarity have superior stats but are more difficult to obtain and merge.
2.Merging Units
Units can be merged to create more powerful ones. When you have multiple identical units on the battlefield, they will automatically merge into a random unit of a higher rarity.

Your tower in the center has a special attacking system that can deal damage and help clear waves. There are five defense types, each with unique effects. Choose the best one for your strategy to clear waves more effectively. The Core of Fire is recommended early on, but if you acquire the Core of Poison, it's best to use that.
The tower's skill can stack up to 5.

You can upgrade your cookies to make them stronger during the battles. The upgrades include:

Start by summoning three units first, then boost their ATK. Hold off on upgrading other skills for now—focus on summoning as many heroes as possible.
When your units can handle the enemies on the field, gradually upgrade your Summoning Level to increase your chances of drawing high-level cookies. Max out at Level 5—avoid over-upgrading.
Tap the Hero bottom icon to view current summon status. If the battlefield is full, remove unnecessary units.

Note: You won't always be lucky enough to merge into a Hero unit.
Use your tower skill at the right moment—don't unleash it the instant it's ready. Deploy it when the field is swarming with enemies, and to clear minions just before the boss appears.
You must have at least two Hero units to progress effectively through the game.
Always position your higher-level units in corners to maximize their damage coverage area.

Note: You can try playing it in the Practice mode to familiar with the gamplay.
Poison Tower Core: This is the optimal choice. Its stacking damage-over-time effect is essential for whittling down high-health enemies and bosses.
Guardian of the Rift may feel unforgiving at first, but success isn’t purely dictated by luck. By understanding unit rarities, mastering the summoning and merging system, choosing the right tower core, and prioritizing summoning levels over early upgrades, you can dramatically improve your clear rate. Focus on building at least two Hero units, time your tower skills wisely, and optimize unit placement to control the battlefield. With the right strategy and a bit of adaptation, even this RNG-heavy mode becomes manageable—and far more rewarding.
