The February 5th patch introduces Apollo, a new SSREX archer in Dragon Traveler. She can be played in both Rebirth compositions and Sanctum Glory (Light) teams, and her kit is clearly designed for high-end boss content.
This guide analyzes Apollo's skills, optimal build direction, team synergy, and summoning value to determine whether she is worth your resources.

Apollo Overview: The Best SSR EX Boss Killer

Rarity: SSR EX Class: Archer Recommendation: Backline
Apollo is a single-target DPS specialist with HP-scaling damage mechanics. Her core strength lies in dealing damage based on the enemy's maximum HP, which makes her disproportionately strong in leaderboard boss fights where enemies have extremely inflated health pools.
Her baseline kit already applies a debuff through basic attacks. This debuff reduces the target's Critical Resistance and enables further scaling interactions. The result is a compounding damage loop:
- Reduced Critical Resistance → higher crit rate consistency
- Crit-triggered effects → self-buff and team buff generation
- Max HP-based scaling → superior performance against high-HP bosses
In short, Apollo's damage profile is optimized for competitive PvE modes rather than general-purpose clearing.

Apollo Skills Breakdown: HP Scaling & Radiant Sigil Mechanics
Basic Attacks - Radiant Sigil
Apollo's basic attacks apply a debuff (commonly referred to as Radiant Sigil). When she critically hits enemies affected by this debuff:
- She has a chance to grant herself Fervor.
- At maximum stacks, she can grant Fervor to two additional allies.
This mechanic gives her hybrid value: she is primarily a single-target DPS, but she also acts as a Fervor enabler in Light-based compositions.
Overdrive – Solar Arrow Stream
Transforms into the sun, firing 30 arrows to sweep through enemies ahead, each arrow dealing physical damage equal to 74% of Attack. During the skill's duration, Damage Reduction increases by 30%. Whenever an ally is defeated, gains 1 stack of [Deathrattle]. For every 5 stacks of [Deathrattle], fires an additional 10 arrows.
Her Overdrive is a high-damage burst ability that deals massive single-target output. In Rebirth teams, this becomes significantly stronger due to Death Rattle stacking:
- Apollo gains Death Rattle stacks when allies die.
- For every five stacks, her Overdrive fires 10 additional arrows.
This creates a scaling damage ceiling in Rebirth compositions, particularly in content where controlled ally sacrifice or attrition mechanics are viable.
Ultimate - Lightfall Arrow Rain
Calls down a rain of blades, striking enemies in an extra-large circular area around the target 5 times, each hit dealing 34% of Attack as physical damage. At the end, gains 1 stack of [Deathrattle] and [Attack Speed Boost].
Apollo's Ultimate provides: AOE damage, Death Rattle generation and Attack Speed increase.
Attack Speed is currently one of the strongest offensive buffs in the game, as it accelerates:
- Basic attack frequency
- Debuff application
- Fervor generation
- Overall DPS throughput
If Apollo gains both Morale and Fervor, she enters an enhanced state where her basic attacks gain splash damage. This allows her to retain strong boss DPS while improving multi-target pressure.
Special Skill - Will of the Sun
When a Basic Attack crits a target marked with [Sigil of Radiance], there's a 17% chance to gain [Fervor]. If the target has max stacks of [Sigil of Radiance], also grants [Fervor] to the 2 nearest ally Luminaries.
Secret Skill - Scatterlight Arrow
When possessing both [Morale] and [Fervor], enters the [Grace] status. While in the [Grace] status, Basic Attack additionally deals splash damage equal to 95% of Attack (splash damage is also considered Basic Attack damage but cannot Crit).
Passive Upgrades and Scaling
Talent
After dealing damage with Basic Attack, applies [Sigil of Radiance]. When dealing damage with skills, for each stack of [Sigil of Radiance] on the target, deals additional physical Damage equal to 2% of the target's Max HP per instance of damage (up to 30% of your Attack).
|
Lv.1 |
Basic Attacks apply Radiant Sigil stacks. Skills deal bonus damage based on target Max HP per stack |
|
Lv.2 |
At battle start, all allied backline Luminaries gain Fervor. Unlocks at 6 stars |
|
Lv.3 |
Each critical hit from Solar Arrow Torrent grants Apollo a Shield equal to 12% of her Attack for 10s, stacking up to 20 times. |
|
Lv.4 |
Every 10 applications of Radiant sigil permanently increase Apollo's Crit Damage by 12% for the remainder of the battle, up to 10 stacks |
|
Lv.5 |
Increases Attack by 8% and Crit by 120. |
|
Lv.7 |
Increases Crit by 200. |
At higher advancement levels:
She provides Fervor to the backline at Level 2, enabling faster ramp-up for Fervor-dependent units (e.g., Gabrielle).
She gains up to 120% bonus Critical Damage at Level 4, which dramatically increases burst potential.
These upgrades heavily favor spenders, as her ceiling scales sharply with investment.
Combat Tip
Apollo's Overdrive reaches maximum damage only when Marks and Deathrattle are fully stacked. As a result, placing her Overdrive in the 1st slot is not recommended; the 3rd or 4th slot is advised instead.
Star Ascension Recommendation
Key Star Level: Purple 6-Star - Grants a permanent 80% Crit Damage increase for the duration of a single battle.
Further upgrading to Rainbow Star boosts Attack and Crit even more. Worth pursuing for players with the resources who want to push maximum crit scaling.

Apollo is exceptionally strong in Light compositions for boss content. Her synergy includes:
- Fervor generation loops
- Critical Resistance reduction stacking
- Strong interaction with Morale buffers
In Light teams designed for leaderboard optimization, Apollo functions as the primary single-target carry.

In Rebirth compositions, her Death Rattle stacking mechanic becomes a core damage amplifier. The more controlled ally deaths occur, the stronger her Overdrive becomes. This makes her suitable for specialized high-risk, high-reward setups.
She is not a universal plug-and-play DPS. Compared to units like Poseidon or Athena, Apollo is more niche but significantly stronger in her intended role.
Magic Summoning and Resource Strategy
For free-to-play and low spenders:
Only summon if you can reach major milestone rewards.
Consider summoning every second or third rotation instead of every event.
Prioritize universally strong units before investing in Apollo.
For spenders aiming at leaderboard placement:
Apollo is a high-priority target.
Is Apollo Worth Pulling?
High Spenders / Competitive Players
Yes, especially if you focus on boss rankings. Apollo is a top-tier single-target DPS with scaling mechanics that outperform generalist units in optimal conditions.
Low Spenders
Situational. If you already have a developed Light core and sufficient resources to reach summoning milestones, she can be valuable. Otherwise, more universal SSRX units may provide better long-term value.
Free-to-Play Players
Generally not recommended unless you are skipping multiple rotations and committing fully to a Light leaderboard strategy. Her power is real, but resource efficiency is critical.
Final Evaluation
Apollo is a specialized, high-ceiling single-target DPS designed for competitive PvE environments in Dragon Traveler. She is not the most universal SSRX, but in boss-focused Light or Rebirth teams, she can be described as "busted" in terms of raw single-target damage output.
