Winter has truly descended upon our villages, Clashers! The Meltdown Mayhem event is now live, bringing with it a frosty theme, temporary troops, and a powerful new tool for the Royal Champion. This guide will break down everything you need to know about the event's mechanics, rewards, and most importantly, how to spend your hard-earned Ember Medals wisely.

Event Basics & Core Mechanics

The Meltdown Mayhem Medal Event runs from December 8th to December 29th, 2025. The Trader's event tab will remain open for an extra two days, until December 31st, for you to spend your medals. Note on Participation: While some early info suggested Town Hall 7, the event is officially available to players with Town Hall level 6 and above, allowing more players to join the frosty fun.

The Meltdown Mayhem Medal Event

The Goal: Collect Sleepy Mites.

Your primary objective is to collect the event currency, Sleepy Mites. These fiery critters are hiding inside enemy Gold Storages to stay warm. Destroying these storages in battle will release them. Be warned: the storages emit a poison aura that damages nearby troops, but it does not slow them down. Plan your attacks to minimize exposure.

The Hub: Smoky Stove.

You'll find the Smoky Stove event building in the northwest corner of your village. This is where you deposit your collected Sleepy Mites to progress along the reward track and claim your daily 100 free mites.

The Reward Tracks.

Like the Gold Pass, there are two tracks: a free track and a premium Event Pass track. The main free track requires 16,000 Sleepy Mites to complete. Once finished, a Bonus Track unlocks, offering additional rewards for another 15,000 mites. Important for F2P: The Bonus Track offers diminishing returns (1,015 total Medals), so prioritize the main track first if time is limited.

Temporary Troops & Spells Breakdown

As you progress, you'll unlock several powerful, time-limited units and spells that are perfect for winter warfare. Critical Reminder: These are only available in regular Multiplayer battles, not in Clan Wars, Clan War Leagues, or Legend League ranked attacks. They also cannot be donated to Clan Castles.

  • Ice Hound (Unlocked at 2,500 Mites): This Super Troop acts as a massive airborne tank. Upon destruction, it releases a freezing blast and its Ice Pups slow down defenses. During the event, it does not count against your regular two-Super-Troop limit, essentially allowing you to run three.
  • Bag of Frostmites Spell (Unlocked at 4,000 Mites): Arguably the star of the event. It freezes a target area and then spawns bouncing Frostmites that slow and distract defenses, providing much longer area control than a standard Freeze Spell.
  • Ice Wizard (Unlocked at 1,000 Mites): A defense-targeting wizard that applies a slowing effect with each shot, perfect for supporting your main push. It has higher HP but slightly lower DPS than a regular Wizard.
  • Ice Minion (Unlocked at 6,250 Mites): These act like defense-targeting Minions with a deadly surprise. When destroyed, they explode with a freezing effect similar to an Ice Golem.
  • Santa's Surprise Spell: Available early on, this spell rains explosive presents on a target area, excellent for sniping key defenses like Air Defenses with over 2,000 damage.

Pro-Tip: Your army in regular battles will be automatically reinforced with free Ice Golems and Ice Minions, making it easier to farm for mites.

Rewards Breakdown: F2P vs. Event Pass

Your efforts in collecting Sleepy Mites will be rewarded with Ember Medals, the currency used in the event Trader shop.

Free-to-Play (F2P) Players: By completing the entire main free track and the subsequent Bonus Track, you can earn a total of 4,115 Ember Medals. This is enough for one major purchase from the Trader.

Event Pass Buyers: Purchasing the Event Pass unlocks the premium reward track, granting an additional 5,500 Ember Medals, plus exclusive Ore rewards like 600 Glowy Ore and 80 Starry Ore (which are only available on the paid track). In total, Pass buyers can accumulate up to 9,615 medals, allowing for multiple high-value purchases.

How to Farm Sleepy Mites Fast

The key is efficiently destroying Gold Storages. Here are strategies for different types of players:

For Legend League Players: You don't need to drop trophies! Sleepy Mites can be collected in both regular and ranked battles. The poison aura is disabled in ranked mode, making it safer. Focus your attack path to ensure you take down the Gold Storages, even after securing the Town Hall. Revenge attacks also count!

For Farmers in Multiplayer: Use armies designed for quick, high-damage runs. Mass Valkyries (popularized by pro players) paired with hero ability equipment can tear through bases. Super Barbarians or Sneaky Goblins are also excellent for targeting storages directly. Don't quit at 50%! Always play out the attack to ensure all Gold Storages are destroyed. If all storages are on one side, start your attack from there. Let the battle run a few seconds longer to clean them up.

For High-Town Hall Players (TH14+): When storages are deep inside, consider using strategic tools like Earthquake Spells to weaken compartments, or pair a Rocket Spear Royal Champion with the Invisibility Vial to snipe storages from a distance.

For Everyone: Don't forget to collect your 100 free Sleepy Mites every day from the Smoky Stove!

What to Buy First: Medal Spending Priority

With a limited medal budget, prioritization is key. The Trader's Event Tab offers Epic Equipment, Magic Items, Ores, and Decorations.

We've got you covered: Clash Of Clans Hero Equipment - The Best Hero Equipment To Get~~!

For F2P Players:

Budget: ~4,115 Medals

Your medal count allows for one major purchase with some leftovers. The undisputed priority is one piece of Epic Equipment (3,100 Medals each). This is the best long-term value for your account strength. After that, you can spend the remaining ~1,015 medals on Ores (great for upgrades) or Potions. Choose the equipment that best fits your main army composition (see tier list below).

For Event Pass Buyers

Budget: ~9,615 Medals

You have much more flexibility. You can afford 2-3 Epic Equipment pieces or a combination of equipment and other high-value items. You can also collect both the Hungry Hound Super Deco and the Frozen Stone decoration.

What to Buy First: Medal Spending Priority

Purchase Priority & Tier List

Magic Mirror

EVERYONE. The most versatile Archer Queen equipment, invaluable for Queen Charges and survival.

Spiky Ball

Ground attack players. Excellent area damage for Barbarian King, clears skeletons and guards.

A-Tier

Dark Crown

Dedicated Air Attackers. Transforms the Archer Queen into an anti-air powerhouse for LavaLoon, Dragon attacks.

Starry/Glowy Ore

Players upgrading Epic Gear. Essential resource, often better value than most magic items.

B-Tier

Lavaloon Puppet

Specific Air Strategies. Great for protecting air armies, but more niche than Dark Crown.

Research/Builder Potion

Players near a key upgrade. Good value for time savings.

C-Tier (Luxury)

Magic Books/Runes

If you have a pressing need. Resources can be farmed, but books save weeks of time.

Collectors. The free Smoky Stove deco is earned on the track. Paid decos are purely cosmetic.

F2P Final Tip: You'll be about 10 medals short of the Frozen Stone (1,025 medals) after buying one Epic Equipment unless you get bonus medals from offers. Focus on your gear first!

Frost Flake Deep Dive

This new Epic Equipment for the Royal Champion is a game-changer, redefining her from a solo assassin to a core army supporter.

Frost Flake Deep Dive

Frost Flake is an active ability that freezes the closest enemy defenses to the Royal Champion when activated. Targeting can reach across the map. At level 1, it freezes 4 targets. At levels 9, 18, and 27 (max), it freezes more targets, up to 7 targets for 7 seconds at max level.

Frost Flake vs. Freeze Spell:

Feature

Frost Flake

Freeze Spell

Targeting

Automatic, based on proximity to RC.

Manual placement.

Max Duration

7 seconds(at max level).

5.5 seconds (at max level).

Housing Space

0(uses an Equipment slot).

1 spell slot.

Flexibility

Lower (tied to RC's position).

Higher (can be placed anywhere on the map).

Value

Multiple "free" Freeze Spellstied to your hero.

Consumes valuable spell housing space.

Advanced Mechanics & Tips:

It can hit Clan Castle troops and enemy Heroes, but only if there are fewer than 7 defenses left on the battlefield. Defenses are always the primary target.

It will activate Invisibility Spell Towers. While not ideal, savvy players can use this to trigger and waste the tower's effect early.

Pro Testing: Use the Mighty Morsel magic snack from the reward track. It grants max-level gear for 3 attacks, and this count does NOT decrease in Friendly Challenges. Activate it and practice extensively in your clan!

Should You Buy It?

  • YES, if... you use ground-smash attacks where the Royal Champion moves with your core army (Super Bowlers, Yeti Smash, Hybrid). It's also excellent in "Fireball Meta Golem" compositions at TH18. The value of freezing 7 defenses for 7 seconds is immense.
  • NO, if... you exclusively use the Royal Champion in a solo "RC Charge" on the edge of the base. For that role, the Rocket Spear or Healer Puppet remains superior. It also offers no DPS boost itself.

Best Equipment Pairing & Playstyle:

The consensus is Electro Boots. Here’s why: Frost Flake provides unparalleled crowd control. Electro Boots provide the crucial passive healing (~45 HP/sec). In a long attack, this can restore over 4,000 HP, keeping your RC alive much longer to use Frost Flake multiple times. This combo turns the Royal Champion into a survivable, crowd-controlling anchor for your main push. The healing offsets trap damage and allows her to tank while freezing key defensive clusters. The Haste Vial is tempting for faster takedowns, but survival is paramount.
