What Are Martial Arts in Where Winds Meet (WWM)

In Where Winds Meet, Martial Arts represent the various combat styles you can use, each tied to a particular weapon. You can only perform a Martial Art when the required weapon is equipped. Some styles share the same weapon type but differ in how they utilize it.

For instance, there are two Fan-based Martial Arts—one emphasizes ranged attacks, while the other focuses on healing and support. Players can equip two Martial Arts at once, mixing offensive and defensive options to create diverse playstyles.

The game features six Martial Arts Paths, each associated with two unique weapons, giving you a total of twelve distinct Martial Arts to choose from.

How to Unlock Martial Arts in Where Winds Meet (WWM)

To unlock Martial Arts in Where Winds Meet, you need to complete two steps: first, unlock the corresponding weapon, and second, collect weapon items.

Unlocking Martial Arts Weapons

To obtain Martial Art weapons, open the Develop menu and navigate to Martial Arts. There, you’ll see a list of all twelve usable weapons.

Choose the weapon you want and hit Obtain. The game will then bring up the map and automatically highlight the mission location. These missions are Skill Theft quests, which require you to sneak into a faction’s base and observe someone using the Martial Art tied to your chosen weapon. Keep in mind that you’ll need Dragon Keys to start these tasks.

During these missions, you’ll also come across optional chests. It’s worthwhile to open them, as they may contain weapon gear necessary for using the Martial Art you’re trying to unlock.

Once you reach the designated spot inside the base, you’ll play through a Skill Theft mini-game. After completing it, simply exit the area to finish the quest.

S-Tier

Bellstrike - Splendor

This comps is incredibly simple, making it ideal for beginners.

  • Martial Art

This Martial Art emphasizes speed and mobility, enabling players to move freely across the battlefield while unleashing charged attacks.

It excels in boss encounters thanks to its powerful single-target damage and strong overall offensive potential.

  • Related Weapons:The Nameless Sword & The Nameless Spear

The Nameless Sword stands out as an exceptionally powerful starting weapon, offering a rare combination of mobility, damage, and versatility.

Unlike typical beginner equipment, it remains highly effective throughout the game. Its attacks are smooth and adaptable, generating reliable barriers while maintaining strong offensive pressure. The charged Heavy Attack doubles as a ranged horizontal strike, allowing players to deal massive damage to multiple enemies or finish off targets with burst damage.

Thanks to its flexibility and ease of integration with many Martial Paths, the Nameless Sword performs extremely well in both PvE and PvP scenarios.

The Nameless Sword

The Nameless Spear excels as a durable, control-oriented weapon, particularly in PvE content. It is designed for sustained combat, with the ability to block and deflect incoming projectiles while dominating large areas of the battlefield.

By building the Unrivaled state, the spear significantly enhances its charged attacks, reducing endurance costs, negating damage, and countering ranged threats. Its combo structure allows for smooth transitions between offense and defense, and when paired with Longsword Martial Arts, it gains improved mobility and single-target damage, making it a well-rounded and reliable choice for defensive playstyles.

The Nameless Spear

Silkbind - Deluge

This build is a must-have choice for raids, providing powerful healing for teammates and even the ability to revive fallen allies.

  • Martial Art

This Martial Art is entirely support-oriented, designed to strengthen both you and your teammates through healing and damage-enhancing effects.

It allows you to restore health in an area, directly heal yourself or a chosen ally, and even revive fallen companions.

In addition, while your healing skills are on cooldown, you can continue contributing by granting offensive buffs, ensuring constant support during combat.

  • Related Weapons:The Panacea Fan & Soulshade Umbrella

The Panacea Fan excels as the strongest healing-focused weapon in Where Winds Meet. While its direct damage output is relatively low, it is exceptionally valuable in co-op play due to its powerful healing, cleansing effects, and the ability to revive teammates. When paired with a secondary weapon to compensate for DPS, it can keep an entire team alive and stable, making it a cornerstone of support-oriented builds.

The Panacea Fan

Soulshade Umbrella trades much of that healing potential for mobility and crowd control. It allows for fast movement and effective management of enemy groups, offering a smoother combat flow once mastered.

A-Tier

Bellstrike - Umbra

This build features stunning visual effects and impressive power, but it comes with a learning curve that can be challenging for beginners, placing it in the A tier.

  • Martial Art

As a Bellstrike Martial Art, it continues to emphasize mobility and single-target combat, but its damage output comes from a different approach.

Instead of relying on powerful charged attacks for burst damage, it focuses on inflicting wounds that trigger bleeding effects, steadily draining the enemy’s HP over time.

  • Related Weapons:Strategic Sword & Heavenquaker Spear

The Strategic Sword shines through its ability to deliver steady, sustained damage over time. It rewards players who carefully plan their actions and maintain consistent pressure on their opponents. While it requires some initial setup and an understanding of its rhythm, mastering its pace results in a smooth and satisfying combat flow with strong overall damage potential.

Strategic Sword

And the Heavenquaker Spear stands out for its wide attack arcs and impressive reach, making it highly effective in longer fights. Its strength lies in its stability and versatility, performing reliably across a wide range of situations.

Whether used in solo play or group content, it offers consistent and dependable performance without demanding complex mechanics.

Stonesplit - Might

This is the only damage reduction build in Where Winds Meet, perfect for players who enjoy playing as a tank.

  • Martial Art

This Martial Art emphasizes survivability, offering players damage reduction, immunity to immobilizing effects, protective shields, and more. It is also highly effective against multiple enemies, allowing you to deal area-of-effect damage in combat.

  • Related Weapons:Stormbreaker Spear & Thundercry Blade

Stormbreaker Spear provides a shield and reduces damage taken, while simultaneously attacking multiple enemies. It greatly enhances survivability during intense encounters and is highly valued in team dungeons and boss battles. Its stable threat generation firmly locks enemy aggression, remaining reliable even in high-difficulty combat.

Stormbreaker Spear

Although Thundercry Blade has a slower attack speed, it delivers powerful striking force, combining the dual characteristics of tanking and damage dealing. It effectively absorbs damage while also launching strong attacks.

Bamboocut - Wind

  • Martial Art

This Martial Art specializes in overwhelming enemies with rapid, consecutive strikes. It delivers high DPS and exceptional mobility, but lacks defensive capabilities, relying heavily on the player’s ability to maintain a continuous flurry of attacks.

  • Related Weapons:Infernal Twinblades & Mortal Rope Dart

The Infernal Twinblades deliver lightning-fast, stylish combos that feel outstanding once mastered. However, they offer almost no safety net—a single mistake can lead to severe punishment. Widely regarded as one of the game’s top weapons, their potential is unlocked only with flawless execution; without precision, you'll quickly fall.

The Infernal Twinblades

The Mortal Rope Dart excels when wielded by someone skilled in spacing and timing. It allows grappling, aerial strikes, and flashy finishers.

B-Tier

Silkbind - Jade

This build is simple and easy to pick up, offering ranged damage output, but its overall damage potential is limited.

  • Martial Art

This Martial Art emphasizes ranged combat, offering the player exceptional mobility and aerial abilities that allow attacks from a safe distance while evading enemy strikes. It is one of the more challenging Martial Arts to master, requiring precise control and timing to execute combos perfectly.

While highly effective in one-on-one duels, it is less suited for dealing with multiple enemies at once.

  • Related Weapons:Inkwell Fan & Ninefold Umbrella

The Inkwell Fan is fine for small skirmishes, but its damage is lacking. Similarly, the Ninefold Umbrella struggles with the same drawbacks. Its animations are beautiful and it feels nice to use, but its swings are slow and its overall damage output is weak.
